Managed Outbound vs traditional ABM agencies
Most ABM agencies sell account selection, creative, and reporting. They almost never own contact-level execution, which is where pipeline actually comes from.

What is the difference between an ABM agency and a managed ABM pod?
A traditional ABM agency owns account selection, creative, and engagement reporting, then hands contact-level execution back to your team. A managed ABM pod owns the same strategy work plus the 1:1 outreach, calling, and booking, and reports account-level pipeline instead of engagement scores. If you do not have SDRs to work the target list, the agency model stalls at the hand-off.
- Agencies stop at the hand-off. Pods run contact-level execution.
- Engagement dashboards are not pipeline. Ask for account-level sourced pipeline.
- Typical agency contract is 12 months; a pod pilot is 90 days.
- First tier 1 meetings: 3 to 4 months agency, 6 to 8 weeks pod.
Where each model wins.
| Dimension | Traditional ABM agencies | Managed Outbound |
|---|---|---|
| Account selection | Workshop + dashboard | Workshop + maintained signal stack |
| 1:1 contact execution | Hand-off to your team | Run by our SDR + GTM engineer |
| Paid + outbound coordination | Often siloed | Single pod |
| Reporting | Engagement dashboards | Account-level pipeline |
| Contract length | 12 months | 90-day initial engagement |
| Speed to first meeting | 3-4 months | 6-8 weeks on tier 1 |
- You already have a strong outbound team to execute on the lists.
- You need a creative agency for brand and content.
- You want ABM as a sales motion, not a marketing campaign.
- You do not have an SDR team to execute 1:1 plays.
- You want pipeline reporting at the account level.
Evaluate every option.
